Having worked for 33 years in the primary and secondary setting, I have a rich experience and a unique understanding of primary pupils’ development and bridging the gap between primary and secondary provision.

My most recent role was teaching Physics and Mathematics at a World College in the south of Wales. My favourite sport is kayaking, cycling, running, and swimming and triathlons. I am also a mountaineer and relish the challenge of scaling a peak or difficult climb with friends. I am very excited to work at Harrow Haikou. I am excited to teaching Physics and exploring all the Hainan and China has to offer.

Thomas joins Harrow from Cothill House, which is one of the best UK Prep Schools and over 300 pupils from this top school finally continue their studies at Eton College.

He loved literature and arts, particularly illustration, drama, and creative writing. During his time at Lord Williams’s School and British School Muscat, he incorporated these interests into extra-curricular songwriting sessions, rock band clubs and poetry workshops. All of which successfully contributed to the arts and culture of the schools and their communities.

With a passion for Chemistry and Biology, I hold a Masters’ degree in Analytical Chemistry and a first degree in Marine Biology. It has been my privilege to share my enthusiasm with many students over the years and to help them achieve their full potential in IGCSE and A-level examinations. I have enjoyed learning languages throughout my life and look to develop the full benefits of bilingualism in all my students.

I am joined in Haikou by my wife Anne and our children Otto and Megan, who are both at Harrow. As Albert Einstein said, “The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination.”

Mr Deng graduated from the Royal Conservatory of music with a master of Arts (honorary degree) in classical accordion. He has held solo and chamber music concerts in the National Center for performing arts, the concert hall of the Central Conservatory of music, the grand concert hall of the Royal Conservatory of music of Denmark, the auditorium of the Royal Conservatory of music, Duke concert hall and other famous concert halls at home and abroad, which have received wide acclaim and good reputation.
